The final 2014 NBA draft big board reflects everything from regular-season performance to predraft workout buzz. Joel Embiid's recent foot injury has led to a shake-up in the top five, as he'd been our No. 1 guy for the majority of the year.
Either way, this really looks like an awfully strong field when you consider the potential star power at the top and the depth from No. 15 to No. 30. Any team with a first-round pick should have a legitimate chance at walking away with a valuable asset.This 2014 big board is a straight-up ranking of the prospects based on their NBA potential. This is not the order I anticipate them getting drafted in. This is that time of year when trade rumors come flying at you left and right. Some are probably true, others aren't—but they're out there.
And all of the ones we've heard so far at least sound somewhat plausible.Let's tackle each of the major rumored proposals that are floating around and break down their pros and cons.ESPN's Jeff Goodman and Chad Ford reported that the Cleveland Cavaliers might be interested in acquiring the No. 4 pick, the No. 12 pick and Arron Afflalo from Orlando in exchange for No. 1. The Cavaliers would ultimately have to give up another player or two to match salaries. Jarrett Jack would make sense. "Everything's really fluid at the moment," Magic general manager Rob Hennigan told Kyle Hightower of USA Today. "I think there's a possibility we could select at (No.) 4 and (No.) 12, and I think there's a possibility that one or both of those picks could be in play."
For Cleveland, this deal means passing on the chance at getting Andrew Wiggins or Jabari Parker to potentially land an injured Joel Embiid or power forwards Noah Vonleh, Aaron Gordon or Julius Randle, and then pair one of them with another prospect at No. 12, with shooters like Doug McDermott, Nik Stauskas, Gary Harris and Rodney Hood, as well as big man Jusuf Nurkic, as all possible options.
